Kurando Mitsutake’s martial arts actioner, ‘Karate Kill’ will be released on US DVD and Blu-ray on July 18, 2017.
The film centers around a Karate master who trawls the mean streets of L.A. in search of his missing sister. The cast includes “entertainer” Ben Dukes, who spoke to us for an exclusive yak about the film recently.

Opinion: Friday the 13th Legal Limbo
I don’t know where I’ve been for the past year, but I have just become aware of the legal battle that is surrounding the Friday the 13th franchise. And here I thought the problems with getting another film off the ground was the fact that the suits couldn’t come up with a good story. For the record, I am a fan of the remake and wish they had just started with a sequel to that one. In any case, this legal wrangling could have long lasting effects on one of the most enduring horror killers of all time.

Hudson Horror Show Invades the Alamo! (Again!!)
If you know me, you have probably heard me talk about the Hudson Horror Show. There really is no doubt about this. Over the past five years, this biannual show has become one of my most anticipated events of the year. I have become friends with the great guys who run the show, as well as seemingly everybody else who goes to or vends there. I am hard pressed to think of a better event for horror and exploitation fans than these. Movies and trailers projected on the big screen from 35mm film in a theater full of like-minded fools. err, folks? What's not to love?

News: Hudson Horror Show #11 is Coming!
If you know me, you know how much Hudson Horror Show means to me. It is not something I can easily explain, and also something that has grown over the course of the group's ten shows over the past five years. I think what really struck it home for me was how I felt when they almost folded following the loss of their venue after their eigth show. Fortunately, the venue was saved allowing them to continue playing host to the movie marathon. This led directly to the success of their return show this past August, and only built throught the tenth show (which sold out in 4 days). With a their 11th show fast approaching, you will not want to be left out in the cold.

That Time of Year: Monster Mania Guest Announcements Begin
Over the past few years I have really begun to enjoy going to conventions. I love the opportunity to have a moment with the celebrity guests, to ask them a question, or thank them for their work, or something. To that end, the winter months always tend to be a bit lonely as the con season is over and we are in a holding pattern. Well, things just began to warm up as Monster Mania, a personal favorite con, has started to announce guests for their March 2015 line-up. Five names in and I can hardly wait.

Who will Take the Helm of Star Trek 3?
Who is going to direct Star Trek 3? That seems to be a big question these days. Originally, Roberto Orci, who co-wrote the first two films (as well as those Transformers flicks) with his writing partner, Alex Kurtzman, was set to step out of the writer's room and direct his first feature until suddenly pulled out a little while back. Since then we have all been wondering who is going to take his place. Now, Orci is not leaving the project, he is still slated to write and produce. I can only guess that he realized he was not ready to helm a massive project like this. Good for him, we all want a good movie.

News: The Gathering Gathers Star Power
Have you heard of this horror movie project called The Gathering? No? Me neither, until now. It appears to be a horror anthology type film where the Devil gathers some great horror writers (Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, HP Lovecraft, etc.) together to tell their untold tales. Now, I am not the biggest fan of anthology films, but the cast this movie has attracted is just absolutely astounding. It is to the point where I have to see this just because, and it isn't even made yet!
Trailer Alert: Mad Max - Fury Road
Oh man. Oh man. Oh boy. This. Looks. Amazing. Now, one can only hope that it lives up to the promise of this trailer. Still, by the looks of it, Max is back and is going to be a force to be reckoned with. It certainly looks like Warner Brothers is behind it and it will hopefully get the push it seems to deserve and launch a new series of post-apocalyptic action. Seriously. The originals (well, the first two, with some lesser love for the third) are absolute classics that epitomize what a car movie can be. This one certainly looks to live up to the standards.

News: Oh No! There goes Tokyo! New New Godzilla!
Yes, dear fans of the giant monster, Toho has indeed announced plans to bring back Godzilla to the big screen. It has been a decade since the screen was last graced with the man-in-suit destruction of giant monster in Godzilla: Final Wars. Plans are to shoot the movie next year with an eye on a 2016 release. How this will fit in, or not, with the recent Hollywood kickstart is yet to be seen. Still, this is definite cause for G-fans to celebrate.

Casting News: Ryan Reynolds returns to Deadpool
So, that Deadpool movie is going to star Ryan Reynolds after all. I cannot say I am disappointed by this. In fact, I like the casting. I just hope they ditch the history made with the character's appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. That was just a travesty. I mean, for a character know for a very distinctive costume and his chattiness, they cast the right guy, but then they sew his mouth shut and never use that great costume. I can only hope they learned from that debacle.

Goblin Reborn with Goblin Rebirth – Signed to Relapse Records
Goblin is one of those bands whose music just sticks with you. They are primarily famous for their contributions to horror cinema, with their scores to films like Suspiria, Dawn of the Dead, and Deep Red. I absolutely love their music. I can listen to it over and over and not get bored. I was lucky enough to see a version of the band play live during their first ever tour of the United States, an absolutely transcendent performance in Philadelphia. Now, a new line up has signed with Relapse Records under the moniker Goblin Rebirth and we may soon get some new music and maybe some new versions of old material.

NEWS: Benedict Cumberbatch Cast as Dr. Strange!
So, the big news in the comic book world today was the casting of Dr. Strange. It is a character that has had much said about in recent months as it seems different stars were being considered daily. Among the names I recall reading about were Johnny Depp, Joaquin Phoenix, David Tennant, Keanu Reeves, and I believe I recall Tom Hardy at some point. Well, the decision has been made and it is Benedict Cumberbatch. You know what? I am all right with this choice. This news comes courtesy of Deadline.

Trailer Park: Oldboy (2013)
To be honest, I never thought it would actually happen. As you know, I am not against remakes, but there are some movies that would appear to be more difficult than others. I figured Oldboy was one of those movies. Then word got out that it was up to be remade. All right, I'm game. Now, the trailer has arrived and I have to say it looks pretty darn good. I am not sure it will be able to top the Park Chan Wook classic.

A New Child's Play Sequel Starts Shooting
The next entry in the Child's Play franchise went into production today. This news will likely be greeted with a roll of the eyes as you wonder why they would do such a thing. Hopefully, there are a few of you out there that are more like me, intrigued about the possibility of a positive return to horror for the iconic doll.

Hudson Horror Show 666 Prepares to Unleash Hell!
It was sometime back in early 2010, I had stumbled across an article, I believe it was at Bloody Disgusting or perhaps Shock til ya Drop, that spoke of the original Evil Dead was going on tour. A 35mm print of the film was going to be making stops at various theaters around the country. I figured there was no way it would be anywhere near me, but it couldn't hurt to take a look at the schedule. Much to my surprise, I found it was coming to Poughkeepsie, NY, to play a something called The Hudson Horror Show. I was certainly excited at the prospect of seeing it on he big screen.

Chris Evans in Full Captain America Gear
Lots of photos coming out for 2011 films of late. One of them finally shows us Chris Evans in his full Captain America garb and I have to say that I think I like it. From the moment the film was announced I was interested, but the key was going to be the costume. Admit it, what works in the comic for the character would look pretty silly in live action.
First Official Images of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander
I will not lie, I love the Swedish film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and I feel lucky to have been able to see it and the two sequels on the big screen. I love it so much that it landed at number four on my Top Ten of 2010 list. I also remember one of my first thoughts was of how Hollywood was going to mess it up. It seemed like just the sort of film that Hollywood would love to get their hooks into. It did not take too long before the remake was announced, then other thoughts began to enter my head.
