Music Video: Behemoth - "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel"

Behemoth is a pretty awesome band, there really is no denying it (well maybe, but whatever). They are getting ready to release their new album, The Satanist, this coming February. To help whet your appetite, they have released a video for the album's first single: “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel.” It is a solid tune and and the video is definitely the things of which weird, nightmarish dreams are made of. On a side note, it seems that Behemoth mastermind, Nergal, is doing well with this treatment for leukemia (diagnosed in 2010). A word of warning, this video is NSFW.

Music Teaser: Behemoth - "Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel"

I am always down for some Behemoth. We not see eye to eye on religion, but the music is damn good, and they are quite good live. The band has released the third teaser for their upcoming single, Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel from the forthcoming Satanist album.

Music Review: Satan's Wrath - Galloping Blasphemy

Recent weeks have seen me exploring a few of the doom metal artists I have in my collection that I am not have listened too all that much. I have discovered that I quite enjoy the style they offer and am seeking more. One of the artists I stumbled across was Satan's Wrath, whose debut album, Galloping Blasphemy.  arrived last September via Metal Blade. I have to say, while this may not be a groundbreaking release, it certain, is a captivating one that has plenty to offer the metal fan's ear.

Music Review: Assaulter - Boundless!

BoundlessEver heard of Assaulter? No? Me neither. The band hails from Australia and recently released their sophomore album, Boundless! It is an album of intense brutality that is sure to pound your skull in, or at least make you ears bleed a little bit. It is certainly a crushing slice of metal, but I find I am hard pressed to say that I really like it. I like it enough, here is something infectious in the way the raw production emanates from my headphones and drills itself into my brain, but it doesn't really stand out enough to make me want to come back all that often.

Music Review: Dragged Into Sunlight - Hatred for Mankind

A lot of people seem to love this album, but if I said I did, I would be lying. I don't think its terrible and it may just be a great album as many seem to think. I think it is a good album, it is one that will definitely get under the skin, but there is something about it that just doesn't click. I cannot say that I care for the sporadic use of sampled audio clips throughout, they just stood out like a sore thumb and ruined the flow.

Music Review: Infernaeron - Genesis to Nemesis

Flordian death metallers Infernaeon are here with their sophomore effort. It is a concept album that looks at Bible stories from a historical perspective. To that end they have chosen song titles to reflect that like "Legacy of Kane," "The Scar of David," and "Immaculate Deception." Also in the track list is a cover of Metallica's "Creeping Death," which seems to fit in quite nicely with their chosen theme. Hmm, I wonder which side of the coin they fall on? For the curious they believe in Spiritual Satanism, what that means exactly, I am not sure. Whatever their beliefs may entail, they certainly know their way around their instruments.

CD Review: Satyricon - Volcano

Black metal has never been a strong genre for me. I've had brief encounters with it from time to time, but I never spent a lot of time with it. Therefore, I am not the most knowledgeable about it, nor am I it's biggest fan, but once in awhile an album or artist will hold my attention for a time. I have picked up a couple of black metal albums and compilations over the years. The one thing that always struck me about black metal, as opposed to other metal sub-genre's like hardcore and thrash/speed, was the presence of melody. There is a lot more melody going on in here then in other metal forms, why I could not say, but it's there. Satyricon's Volcano is no exception.

CD Review: Dry Kill Logic: The Dead and Dreaming

2001 was a long summer for me. That summer I was on crutches, couldn't drive my car (it was a standard), and was worried about how I was going to get in to a Fear Factory show on July 10th I had tickets for. I contacted the club's owner to see what arrangements could be made for someone in my condition. They graciously allowed me entrance as soon as I arrived, meaning I didn't have to wait in line, plus they gave me a seat in the balcony with a great view of the stage. What does any of this have to do with Dry Kill Logic you ask? It turns out that they were the opening act, and when I arrived they were still onstage finishing up their sound check. I was completely unfamiliar with them, their debut CD was released less then a month prior, but the riffs during the check sounded promising. An hour later they went onstage and tear it up for about 30-40 minutes. I was hooked. Now, three years later they have released their latest dose of destruction.
