V - Trailer
The trailer for the new version of V is here. I like. It has the girl from Lost, guy from The 4400, girl from Firefly, and a few others I recognize amongst its number. Would it be too much to ask for an appearance from Robert Englund or Marc Singer? Not sure when this is airing, but I will be watching.

30 Rock - Preview
The season finale is almost here for one of the best sitcoms going. Here is a preview of what to expect in the episode. Funny stuff!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Soundboard
In honor of the characters 25th anniversary (wow I feel old) and the release of season seven of the animated series, Lionsgate has released a soundboard so that we can replay some classic Turtle lines. I loved this as a kid. Not quite sure that it holds up all that well.
Science of the Movies - Promo
Beginning May 26, 2009 at 9PM, the Science Channel will begin a new series called Science of the Movies. The show will take us behind the scenes and show us how many of those mind blowing cinematic effects are made. Sometimes I feel that we already get too much "behind the curtain" type stuff, but must admit I want to check this series out.

Star Trek - Shatner watches the trailer
Nothing terribly substantial here, but it is entertaining to watch William Shatner watch the Star Trek trailer for the first time and get a couple of digs on George Takei.

Larry King Live - Rourke vs Jericho
Is this real? Is it a work? Considering the talk of Mickey Rourke's involvement at the upcoming Wrestlemania, I have to wonder if this is real or if it was done to help amp up an angle for celebrity involvement at the show. Rourke seemed to be having a little fun with it while Chris Jericho seemed genuinely upset. In the end, the "feud" is a mere blip on anyone's radar. See for yourself:

The Colbert Report - "Tip of the Hat/Wag of the Finger"
This segment is pretty dang funny, sad too. In it, Colbert takes some jabs at the Mets and their lame inaugural season patch (it is awful), while also using the same segment to goof on PETA. Great stuff.

2009 Golden Globes: Results Clip Show
The results are in and some of them are not all that pretty to me. There were a few that I was very happy to see win, while others made audibly yell at my television screen. I know that does not accomplish much and in the big picture awards shows like these do not mean much. However, I do still enjoy seeing personal favorites take home big prizes, it sort of validates my own feelings. Not that I need to be validated, but it does make me smile, if only a little.
So, without further adieu, let's take a look at some clips of the winners with minimal notes from yours truly. I will not be covering all of the winners, but msot will be here. I left off much of the television coverage because for as much television as I watch, the majority of those nominated I do not watch (usually because I do not have the premium nets on which they air).
Before moving on to all of the awards, here is a compilation of what were deemed the best moments by someone:
Steven Spielberg won the Cecil B. Demille lifetime achievement award and relates a wonderful story.
Best Motion Picture - Drama - Slumdog Millionaire
Notes: It is a great movie that is not topping my list, but comes pretty darn close. It is a movie that make me smile and makes me happy to see it doing well.
Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy - Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Notes: This one had me saying "Noooooo!" Darth Vader style. Not that it is a bad movie, but it is not all that good, my pick was In Bruges. I was also amused by how the producer almost forgot to thank Woody Allen, I mean without him this movie would not even exist.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama - Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler
Notes: I have not even seen the movie yet and I was cheering this victory. I think Rourke was snubbed for his performance in Sin City, and I have heard nothing but great things for his work here. On top of that, he gave one heck of an entertaining acceptance speech.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama - Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road
Notes: With Winslet's penchant for being nominated and losing, I was not expecting this, especially with her already having won the Supporting Actress trophy. Her speech indicated she was surprised as well. I bet that she won due to Meryl Streep and Ann Hathaway splitting the vote.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy - Colin Farrell for In Bruges
Notes: I was secretly rooting for James Franco, despite me knowing there was no way he would win (not to mention I picture his role as more of a supporting one). I was happy to see Farrell win and give In Bruges some love, the movie is brilliant. It is also amusing considering the campaigning he was doing with co-star Brendan Gleeson on the red carpet.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy - Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky
Notes: I have not seen this film, but have heard good things. I thought her speech was good, genuinely overcome with emotion.
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture - Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight
Notes: Was there really any other choice? Even if he had not died, I am certain he would stilll have been showered with accolades. His performance just captivates the screen and showed the actor and the talent that was quickly becoming apparent. I thought the tribute clip was very nice.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture - Kate Winslet for The Reader
Notes: I have not seen the performance, but it is nice to see her actually win something. This despite my wanting Viola Davis to win.
Best Director - Motion Picture - Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire
Notes: Boyle definitely turned in good work here, but I do not feel it was the best. I would have loved to have seen Christopher Nolan nominated here. Of the nominated, I would have taken Fincher.
Best Screenplay - Motion Picture - Slumdog Millionaire: Simon Beaufoy
Notes: It is good, but not the best. Of those nominated Doubt should have won. Burn After Reading and Gran Torino should have been nominated.
Best Original Score - Motion Picture - Slumdog Millionaire: A.R. Rahman
Notes: In lieu of The Dark Knight, this is a fantastic score and the one I wanted to see win.
Best Animated Film - WALL·E
Notes: Was there any other choice? Kung Fu Panda is definitely up there, but nothing even comes close to touching WALL-E.
Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy - 30 Rock
Notes: Easy choice, it is hard to top what may be the funniest show going. Plus, ain't Tracy Morgan a funny guy?
Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy - Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock
Notes: The same goes for the performances.
Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy - Tina Fey for 30 Rock
Notes: See above.
Enough with the awards. There were other entertaining clips not speech related.
Megan Fox want's a piece of Salma Hayek and what's up with Brian Austin Greene?
Ann Hathaway looks lovely on the carpet as she talks about preparing for Rachel Getting Married.
Rainn Wilson comes complete with geek-chic.
30 Rock just maybe the best thing Alec Baldwin has ever done. Here he has fun turning the tables on Ryan Seacrest.
How much did it cost to get these guys through the door? It isn't bad enough I was subjected to them during Holiday parades and New Year's Eve specials, they have to be at the Globes too? Enough is enough.
I love Amy Adams.

Golden Globes 2009 - Predictions Clip Show
The 2009 Golden Globes are upon us, and I am sure that all interested parties are nearing (or past) their limit in reading rambling analysis on who win and who should win, not to mention all of the overlooked films. I am going to do my best to dispense with that. What you will find below are the categories (minus a couple where I am not familiar with the nominees), maybe a couple of brief notes and an embedded video of who I want as the winner, not a prediction, just who I want. Short, sweet, to the point, and hopefully mildly entertaining.
Best Motion Picture - Drama
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Frost/Nixon (2008)
The Reader (2008)
Revolutionary Road (2008)
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Notes: My biggest issue here is that The Dark Knight was not nominated. I guess it was to be expected.
Winner: Slumdog Millionaire
Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Burn After Reading (2008)
Happy-Go-Lucky (2008)
In Bruges (2008)
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Notes: Well, I am not a fan of two of the films nominated and I have not seen a third. So, my opinion is down to a two film race. Also, in my opinion, the top overlooked film here is Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
Winner: In Bruges
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Leonardo DiCaprio for Revolutionary Road (2008)
Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon (2008)
Sean Penn for Milk (2008)
Brad Pitt for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler (2008)
Notes: Wow, I have not seen three of these performances, and the one I want to say is the winner is one that I have not yet seen. Of the two I have seen, I would say Brad Pitt, but that is not my ultimate choice.
Winner: Mickey Rourke
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married (2008)
Angelina Jolie for Changeling (2008)
Meryl Streep for Doubt (2008)
Kristin Scott Thomas for Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (2008)
Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road (2008)
Notes: In my mind, this is a two actress race, everyone else is a longshot. Any guess who the top two are?
Winner: Anne Hathaway
Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Javier Bardem for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Colin Farrell for In Bruges (2008)
James Franco for Pineapple Express (2008)
Brendan Gleeson for In Bruges (2008)
Dustin Hoffman for Last Chance Harvey (2008)
Notes: This is actually kind of tough, however I like the outside-the-box nominee, he will not win, but I would love to see it.
Winner: James Franco
Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Rebecca Hall for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky (2008)
Frances McDormand for Burn After Reading (2008)
Meryl Streep for Mamma Mia! (2008)
Emma Thompson for Last Chance Harvey (2008)
Notes: I think I would rather have seen Frances McDormand be nominated for Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.
Winner: Rebecca Hall
Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Tom Cruise for Tropic Thunder (2008)
Robert Downey Jr. for Tropic Thunder (2008)
Ralph Fiennes for The Duchess (2008)
Philip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt (2008)
Heath Ledger for The Dark Knight (2008)
Notes: I want to say this is all locked up, and I truly believe that. Then again, stranger things have happened like, say, Tom Cruise getting nominated. Seriously?
Winner: Heath Ledger
Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Amy Adams for Doubt (2008)
Penélope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Viola Davis for Doubt (2008)
Marisa Tomei for The Wrestler (2008)
Kate Winslet for The Reader (2008)
Notes: Pretty strong looking bunch here. Not sure what I would change, if any. However, the winner is going to be, hopefully, the least known name in the bunch.
Winner: Viola Davis
Best Director - Motion Picture
Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Stephen Daldry for The Reader (2008)
David Fincher for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)
Ron Howard for Frost/Nixon (2008)
Sam Mendes for Revolutionary Road (2008)
Notes: Again, no The Dark Knight? How about Clint Eastwood?
Winner: David Fincher
Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008): Eric Roth, Robin Swicord
Doubt (2008): John Patrick Shanley
Frost/Nixon (2008): Peter Morgan
The Reader (2008): David Hare
Slumdog Millionaire (2008): Simon Beaufoy
Notes: I have not seen a couple of the nominees, but I would like to have seen Burn After Reading and Gran Torino here. I also would bot be averse to In Bruges, or perhaps even Blindness.
Winner: Doubt
Best Original Song - Motion Picture
Bolt (2008)("I Thought I Lost You")
Cadillac Records (2008)("Once in a Lifetime")
Gran Torino (2008)("Gran Torino")
WALL·E (2008)("Down to Earth")
The Wrestler (2008)("The Wrestler")
Notes: Interesting choices, although I do not like the tune from Bolt.
Winner: "Gran Torino"
Best Original Score - Motion Picture
Changeling (2008): Clint Eastwood
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008): Alexandre Desplat
Defiance (2008): James Newton Howard

Entourage (2004)
The Office (2005)

In Bruges (2008)
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Vicky Cristina Barcelona (2008)
Notes: Well, I am not a fan of two of the films nominated and I have not seen a third. So, my opinion is down to a two film race. Also, in my opinion, the top overlooked film here is Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

The Rachel Maddow Show and Dog Faced Corpse - Metal Returns to Iraq
Simply put, this is great news. Metal is back in Baghdad. When fighting broke out, metal disappeared from the country of Iraq, the moratorium can now be lifted. Dog Faced Corpse has brought metal back to life in the country, performing at a private dinner party. The return of metal was reported by Rachel Maddow on her MSNBC show. It is a positive report that does not look down on the genre as would normally be expected from the press, very nice indeed. There is also some fan captured footage of the band performing a cover of Death's "The Philosopher."

Anytime with Bob Kushell - Neil Patrick Harris
Never seen this web series before, but I have to say that the guy does not strike me as being all that funny. The reason I watched it is because of Neil Patrick Harris who is a hilarious guy. Who knew Doogie had it in him? I remember Doogie ending and then I remember him in Starship Troopers and then nothing. Now he is in one of the better sitcoms on television and regularly steals scenes. Funny stuff. Unfortunately, this is all too short to amount to much. Still, give it a look:
