Revisiting a Murder: The Crow: City of Angels

If you know me, you know that my favorite movie is The Crow. I am not saying it is the best movie, but it is the movie I can return to time and time again and walk away satisfied. It is a movie that just strikes all the right chords for this fan. It was one of the first movies that I saw more than once in the theater. I can go on and on about The Crow, but this piece isn’t about that movie. It is about the first of the trio of sequels that were produced, and the only one to that made it to theaters. The Crow: City of Angels was released in 1996, a late August release where it won its opening weekend, but faded pretty quickly. It ended its run with a box office gross just shy of $18 million.

A Revisitation: Saw

So, the other night I decided to revisit the original Saw. I was curious to see how it held up of if my opinion of it had changed. Now, I never officially reviewed it on its original release, and I am not reviewing it now, but I thought i would reflect on it a little bit now that my memory is refreshed. The movie, and series in general, has become something of a lightning rod in terms of mainstream horror and can sort of be looked at as a more current counterpart to the Friday the 13th films from the 1980's. You can see that, right?

A Revisitation: Rob Zombie's Halloween I and II

I am not going to lie, I am a Rob Zombie fan. I have been me almost since I first heard White Zombie so many years ago. With that being the case, suspect my judgment may be a little clouded when it comes to his work. There is something about his approach, be it music or movies, that just draws me in. His passionate about his creations, he believes in them, there is love behind what he makes. This goes a long way and, love him or hate him, puts him ahead of the race when it comes to the moves he makes compared to those made by studio suits looking for a quick buck.

A Revisitation: Type O Negative

In my limited music exposure I have come across a few bands that released albums that were ahead of their time as well as bands that found me lagging behind. I have just experienced a brand new situation. Prior to this past week, I do not think I had encountered anything like this. I have been listening to a band I have been a fan of for years but have not listened to for awhile and I have discovered an entirely new respect for them. Perhaps I have finally caught up to where they were so many years ago. The band? Type O Negative.
