Critical Capsule: A Bad Moms Christmas

Last year, Bad Moms proved to be a bit of a surprise hit. You know what that means! Let's rush out a sequel! That brings us A Bad Moms Christmas. The main cast returns and adds a number of notable names to play the mom’s moms. Well, I am happy to report that while this has very little plot, it still maintains the vulgar charms of the first and is quite enjoyable. It is by no means great, but is a fun R rated holiday romp and the additions of the mom's worked out quite well. I wonder what could be next? I don't really see this as a long running franchise, but I would not be against another go around with these put upon mom's just trying to do the best they can for their families. Perhaps unrealistic, but certainly relatable.

Movie Review: Veronica Mars

Ten years ago Rob Thomas (not the Matchbox 20 guy) introduced us to the character of Veronica Mars and a whole host of colorful supporting characters. It was a show that I took to pretty quickly. Unfortunately, it was canceled after three seasons. The series, of the same name, ended up being another critical success and popular failure that became a victim of the UPN and WB network merger. I was sad to see it go, but that is the way things seem to go. I never did think I would see the character again, despite Rob Thomas talking about bringing the series back or making a movie. Now here we are.

Blu-ray Review: Hit and Run

Hit and Run is a movie that is not terribly deep and not exactly insightful. It is the kind of movie that arrives with low expectations, does not exactly light up the box office, and disappears from the public eye, destined to be little more than a footnote for all involved. That probably sounds harsh but I believe it deserves a better fate than that. This movie is actually pretty good and while it may not have much to say, it is a fun, in the moment kind of flick. I could think of worse ways to spend an evening.

Movie Review: Hit and Run

There are some movies that I go see for irrational reasons. Sometimes it is out of a need for something to do and sometimes it is for someone in the movie (why else would I have gone to Honey in a theater?). Fortunately some of those times result on a surprising experience in the movies. This is not to say I have stumbled across masterpieces in this fashion, but I have been pleasantly surprised on occasion. Hit and Run has proven to be one of those surprises. The reason I went? Some cool cars and Kristen Bell.
