Reviews in Retrograde: Aliens

Critical Outcast isn't my first attempt at a website, I had a few stutter steps in the late 1990's and early 2000's. These attempts generated a whole bunch of poorly written, often very short and spoilerific reviews. I recently stumbled upon them in my archives and thought you may be interested in seeing some of these early attempts at writing. They are as they were then, I make no apologies for how bad or how short they are. Feel free to have at them with reckless abandon! I present to you: Reviews in Retrograde.

Aliens

The only survivor of the Nostromo, Ripley is discovered in deep sleep half a century later by a salvage ship. When she is taken back to Earth, she learns that a human colony was founded on the same planet where the aliens were first found. After contact with the colony is lost, she finds herself sent back to the planet along with a team of warriors bent on destroying the alien menace forever, and saving any survivors -- if any remain.

A sequel hat surpasses the original, something not done too often. The film takes place 55 years after the first and follows Ripley as she returns to the planet from the first film with a team of colonial marines. The story of the film is great, expanding on the Alien myth and showing our desperation in the face of a relentless force. The movie is relentless action that is exhilarating and exhausting. Cameron once again displays his skill in action filmmaking, following Terminator. The film is relentless in its portrayal of the action. It never lets up.

A sequel that surpasses the original, a beautifully relentless action-fest.
