I Love Tricky and You Should Too: "Murder Weapon" Video

I first became aware of the artist known as Tricky back in the 1990's. Somewhere I had heard the song "Christiansands" and loved it. I also saw him in a supporting role in the movie The Fifth Element, where he acquitted himself admirably.

I picked up his 1996 release Pre-Millennium Tension and promptly fell in love with it. It is a style I am completely unfamiliar with, I believe it is called trip-hop. Regardless, it is an alluring sound and one that Tricky is very, very good at.

Unfortunately I never kept up with the artist and my copy of Pre-Millennium Tension disappeared. I would occasionally look for it, but I had no idea where it went. Well, it turned up the other day and I fell in love all over again. The groove, the interesting layers of sound, his distinctive voice, there is a lot to love here.

Well, I have come to find out that he has a new album coming out this October and he has released the first video. The song is a reworking of the Echo Minott dancehall hit from 1993 called "Murder Weapon." He has employed Irish-Italian vocalist Franky Riley to perform the lyrics. It is very catchy and makes me want to get some more albums from Tricky's catalog.

Tricky stars in the video as a boxer, check it out:
