Shooting at Benjamin Button

Here is a piece of insane news being reported at Worst Previews, a man was shot in a Philadelphia movie theater during a screening of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. The reason for the shooting? It turns out the victim was talking. I know the first reaction is to give a little stifled chuckle, but this is seriously messed up.

As the story goes the shooter turned around to quiet a father and son sitting behind him who were talking. They did not listen and he turned around again, this time throwing some popcorn. The incident escalated to where 29-year-old James Joseph Cialella Jr. pulled a gun and shot the father in the arm. Theater patrons fled for the exits and the shooter just sat back down and continued watching the movie.

This is insane. I know I have dreamed of doing something extreme to the annoyance of talkers, but never would I ever do anything like this. This is a good indication of someone in need of some serious medication. Cialella has been arrested on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and weapons violations.

While this guys actions are inexcusable and I hope he gets what is coming to him, this does bring up the serious issue of talking at the movies. This drives me nuts, along with phone calls and texting (those screens are really freaking bright). People need to show a little respect when they are in the darkened room, you are not the only one there. Sit there and enjoy the movie, no one wants your witty comments, banter, or listen to conversations with your neighbor. So please, shut up!
