Pick of the Week - The Saddest Music in the World

I really wanted to pick the wonderful Elf that is coming out this week, but that is getting enough press, although I still highly recommend it! Instead I have chosen a wonderfully bizarre film out of Canada called The Saddest Music in the World.



This is one of the strangest films I have ever seen. It is about a woman who runs a beer brewery holding a contest to, you guessed it, find the saddest music in the world. The film evokes the silent era, with it's grainy black and white look. Add to that a Willy Wonka on acid like attitude. Pitting world music acts against each other in face off battles, an odd pair of brothers, a father vs son battle. And also lets not forget beer filled prosthetic legs. This is one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen.

It is one of those movies that not many people are aware of, but for those of you with skewed film views and an appreciation for the strange, this is a movie for you.
