Way back in 1989 Jean Claude Van Damme was a rising star. He had already shown audiences his considerable screen presence and charisma in Bloodsport and Cyborg. His followup was Kickboxer, an action revenge flick that saw Van Damme head to Bangkok to avenge the brutal death of his brother at the hands of underground fight champion, Tong Po. That film proved to be a hit a spawned a number of sequels. Now, we are faced with a reboot of the franchise. Why? I could not say. Even stranger is that it was sent the direct to video route and is a decidedly lackluster outing.

Movie Review: Specte
Few franchises can lay claim to more than fifty years of history and even fewer have twenty-four films under their belt. It wasn’t that long ago that I was talking about another franchise that got better with age, meaning the later sequels were actually better than the first few. Now, when it comes to James Bond, we have a whole new story to tell. When it comes to the best films in the franchise, you will likely get a mixture of old and new. Seriously, when I think about my favorites, titles such as From Russia with Love, Casino Royale (2006), Goldfinger, and Skyfall. Now, there is Spectre. I am not sure it will land in the top five, but it is certainly no slouch.

Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy
It seemed like it was just yesterday that Marvel was launching their movie studio with the first Iron Man movie. Who could have predicted how high they would fly? Certainly not I. On top of that, I never would have guessed that they would have taken their cinematic universe to the cosmic level that they have. Well, we got a taste of it with the Chitauri in The Avengers. Now we have Marvel going full throttle into deep space with Guardians of the Galaxy. This movie may not be the best of the bunch, but it has a lot going for it and it is one of the most fun movies I have seen this year. Seriously, it is a lot of fun.
