Reviews in Retrograde: Alien3

Critical Outcast isn't my first attempt at a website, I had a few stutter steps in the late 1990's and early 2000's. These attempts generated a whole bunch of poorly written, often very short and spoilerific reviews. I recently stumbled upon them in my archives and thought you may be interested in seeing some of these early attempts at writing. They are as they were then, I make no apologies for how bad or how short they are. Feel free to have at them with reckless abandon! I present to you: Reviews in Retrograde.

Alien3

After escaping from the alien planet, the ship carrying Ellen Ripley crashes onto a remote and inhabited ore refinery. While living in the ore refinery until she is rescued by her employers, Ripley discovers the horrifying reason for her crash: An alien stowaway. As the alien matures and begins to kill off the inhabitants, Ripley is unaware that her true enemy is more than just the killer alien.

This film was almost doomed from the start with many rejected scripts, a few directors, fights with the studio, it finally appeared and was a disappointment. I like it more now than I did, but it still doesn't compare tot he first 2 of the series. Alien 3 lacked something, the personal touch wasn't there. The film attempted to use the same style as the first one, a single Alien in an atmosphere of discontent. Unfortunately, the characters didn't quite seem real. Still worth seeing if you're an Alien fan.

Entertaining, if unspectacular run through the Alien universe.
