Netflix'ns: The Cell 2

Netflix'ns is a series of review shorts of films discovered on Netflix, be it DVD or streaming. For better or worse, I sat through these films and have lived to tell the tale. These are not so much reviews as just comments on the film watched. This is also a work in progress.

Well, no one said they were all going to be winners. The Cell 2 is just a mess of a movie and has no connection to the first film. I suspect this was just one of those screenplays somebody wanted to make but wasn't sure what to do with so they tried to tie it loosely to a known property. The end result is a movie that bites off what came before while not actually ding anything with it.

The original The Cell was not a great film, but it was a fantastic looking film. Tarsem Singh did a great job of giving that film a style that has allowed it to be somewhat remembered. I mean that as a compliment, I enjoy that movie.

This movie is dull and drab and belongs on TV, if it belongs anywhere at all. It is a thriller about a serial killer called the Cusp, he kills and revives his victims until they beg for actual death. One of his victims, Maya (Tessie Santiago), was killed 6 times and survived. She know has a psychic ability to enter peoples minds. She is using this to track down the Cusp, but she cannot remember what he looks like. They search for awhile, then when the revelations are made, they just don't seem to matter all that much.

Can you say boring and not worth the time or effort? I knew you could.
