King of Asgard Unleash their Debut Video

As I was checking my email I came across a press release from Metal Blade Records heralding the release of the first video from the band King of Asgard. Being the curious sort of fellow, I clicked the link, checked out the video, and fell in love. Well, sort of.

The song is called "Einharjar" and it comes from their Metal Blade debut album Fi'mbulvintr. If the rest of the album is anything like this song, count me in as very interested. I am always on the lookout for something new and this just might fit the bill.

The three piece formed by ex-Mithotyn frontman Karl Beckman, King of Asgard deliver a fresh sound to the Nordic metal genra. Now, I am not terribly well versed in the genre, but the use of melody and brutality is quite intoxicating.

As for the video? What else can I say but that I like it? From the creepy opening to that old folk sound of the opening riff paired with Beckman's intense stare, harsh lighting, and desaturated colors, it is just a good video. Now, it is not the greatest thing I've ever heard, but it has all the elements that make me want to love it and put it into my rotation.

Don't take my word for it, check it out:
