The 1972 Charles Bronson film is gearing up for a remame. This time around Jason Statham will be stepping into the Bronson role for director Simon West. Seems like an interesting choice, no?
The original film told the story of a deached hitman who finds himself training the son of one of his victims. It is a plot that has been recycled in the past, most notably in Luc Besson's Leon: The Professional.
Statham seems like a good choice for the role. He may not have the grzzled look of Bronson, but he does have what it takes to play a hard-edged assassin, at least I think so.
As for Simon West in the director's chair? He was fun with Con Air, but his last film was the awful When a Stranger Calls. One can only hope he does better than that.
