Movie Media: Charlie Wilson's War - Poster, Stills, Trailer

On paper, before even getting to the story, Charlie Wilson's War looks like a winner. Combine stars Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, and Philip Seymour Hoffman with director Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Closer) and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The West Wing) how can you go wrong? Time will answer that question when the film is unveiled to public scrutiny. It tells the story of a Texas Congressman (Hanks) who works with a socialite (Roberts) and a CIA operative (Hoffman) to wage a covert war, supporting Afghanistan against the Soviet Union and contributing to the Soviet collapse and the end of the Cold War. The trailer looks quite good, so I have hopes that it will deliver the goods.
