Deck the Halls. (2006, 95 minutes, PG, comedy, trailer) I have to admit that the commercials for this do not look enticing at all. It has what looks like a decent cast with Matther Broderick and Danny DeVito top lining, but it looks less like Christmas Vacation (classic) and more like Christmas with the Kranks (the opposite of classic). Broderick plays the local Christmas enthusiast who has his crown threatened when DeVito moves in and attempts to outdo the local boy. What follows is an escalating battle of holiday spirit between the two. Hopefully the commercials are deceiving, but I am not holding my breath.
Deja Vu. (2006, 128 minutes, R, action, trailer) The first trailer that came out looked like another stylish outing from Tony Scott, but it looked rather generic storywise. Then the second trailer hit and that had me sold, the moment they introduced the time travel element my interest was piqued. I have no idea what the actual story is, but the technology that allows them to look four days into the past is fascinating. Of course, it is sure to open up a whole new world of headaches that can only be induced by the paradox of time travel, but it will be interesting to see how well they pull it off.
The Fountain. (2006, 96 minutes, PG-13, drama, trailer) Darren Aronofsky's big league debut looks like it could be a fascinating film. He made a name with the odd indie films Pi and Requiem for a Dream. This film pairs Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz in a story that spans 1000 years following Jackman's quest to find the secret of eternal life and save the woman he loves. I have heard mixed early word on this, but I have to say that it looks fantastic based on the visuals alone. Also, I believe Brad Pitt was originally slated to star, but pulled out to be replaced by Jackman, who has been quite busy this year.
Tenacious D in the Pick of Destiny. (2006, 93 minutes, R, comedy, trailer) The Greatest Band in the World will not be denied. Jack Black and Kyle Gass created the musical comedy duo, and know they are bringing the act to the big screen in an adventure to find the Pick of Destiny and fulfill their dream of becoming the greatest in the world. This looks like it will be a lot of fun, but oddly enough, I am reminded of Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, for some reason. Looking forward to catching this one.

Box Office Predictions
The penguins topped last week, narrowly edging out Bond. The long weekend will be interesting, to see if those two can hold strong, or if the Wednesday releases will eat into their supremacy. I am pretty sure that any and all of my gross figures will be grossly off, hopefully I will be pretty close on the title placings.
