New Movie Releases for 11/18/05: Featuring Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Not much in the way of new releases this week, but the pair we get both look to be winners. One of them is sure to be an absolute smash at the box office, the other has Oscar written all over it (or so the ads would have you believe).

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Midnight shows sold out across the country in anticipation of the incredibly popular series of boy wizard book adaptations. Many of the critics are hailing it as the best of the series. Hopefully, I will get to find out sometime this weekend. This one promises to be the darkest entry in the yet. Harry is getting older and is now allowed to have PG-13 rated adventures. I can't wait!

Walk the Line. This is being said to be a lock for many Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor, time will tell. I am a recent conversion to the legions of Cash fans and look forward to seeing this film. My eagerness to see the movie is tempered by that nagging feeling that we were here the same time last year for Ray. I know it is about a very different artist, but would we be seeing this now had it not been for the success of the former? Who knows. I think I will let the film state its case.

Also opening this week, but not near me:
  • The Aryan Couple
  • Breakfast on Pluto
  • Moonlight
