DVD Pick of the Week for 11/15: Scrubs - The Complete Second Season

My number one wanted release this week is Scrubs: The Complete Second Season. It may be the only way to get some Scrubs this season, as it has not yet been determined when it will be returning to the air.

Scrubs is one of the best sitcoms to emerge over the past few years, along with Arrested Development (RIP), My Name is Earl, and The Office show that there is still some creativity to be had in the half hour comedy. There is a great mix of verbal and slapstick comedies, goofy flashbacks, odd non-sequiters, and even a touching and slightly dramatic side.

It is populated with colorful characters populating a well written corner of the sitcomosphere. It is definitely worth your time. So get out there and get it!

Also coming out this week:
  • Def Leppard: Rock of Ages - Definitive Collection. A collection of Def Leppard's most important videos, with commentary from the band.
  • The Edukators. German film about a couple of anarchists who get their kicks out of rearranging the furniture of the rich, until a woman comes between them and a prank gets out of hand. Good, but a bit overlong.
  • The Flintstones: Complete Fourth Season. Who doesn't love the Flinstones? The first of the primetime cartoons.
  • Gantz Vol. 9: Judge, Jury & Executioner. Bizarre, over the top anime series continues its run.
  • The Harold Lloyd Comedy Collection Vols. 1-3. One of the kings of silent comedy. This set looks fantastic, I have seen so few of his films that this is a must have.
  • Madagascar. Decent, if unspectacular foray into the animated film arena. Features some good voice casting, and fantastic penguins.
  • The Skeleton Key. Surprisingly good supernatural thriller. The ending is a little convoluted and brings the film down overall, but it has good atmosphere and above average performances.
  • Stargate: Atlantis - The Complete First Season. Mediocre opening season for the spinoff series. It gets stronger during season 2.
  • Stealth. One word: pass.
  • Ultimate Star Trek Collection. For the Trek fan who hasn't bought a thing. This has all 3 seasons of The Original Series, 7 seasons of Next Generation, 7 seasons of DS9, 7 seasons of Voyager, 4 seasons of Enterprise, and all 10 movies. 212 disks in total.

That's it for this week!
