The Trailer Park: Serenity (Trailer 2)

This is one movie that I am really looking forward to. I don't know when I became a Joss Whedon fan, but I picked up Buffy really late, I think it was season 5 or 6, and Angel with season 3. Firefly, on the other hand, I was with right from the doomed start. It is a shame that show got screwed with as much as it did, it was truly an excellent show.

Firefly is gaining new life as a feature film called Serenity, if you didn't already know. It was originally set to open in April, but unwilling to risk getting swallowed by Star Wars or War of the Worlds, it's release was moved to the end of September, 30th to be be exact. I think that was a good decision, it has a better chance of reaching the audience it deserves. In the meantime, writer/director Joss Whedon has been giving special viewings of the film around the country, this is generating some great word of mouth.

This is the second trailer to come out for the film, and it looks great! It looks to have a great mixture of action and comedy, as well as fun performances from the leads. Something that always comes across is when the cast had fun making a film, it shows, and this looks to be an example of that. It looks to have all the principal cast members from the short lived show on board for this journey.

The one thing I have been unable to ascertain is how this fits into the timeline of the series, or if any of it has been rewritten to fit a standalone film. Either way it looks to be an excellent film. This trailer seems to capture the spirit of what this film will be, and I cannot wait.

You can see the trailer here.

The movie picks up the story about 6 months after the series ended. Inara and Book have moved on, but the rest are together(we will of course see them again in the movie). It is supposed to work as a standalone film, with no previous knowledge necessary - however since the past (the series) is not forgotten, it starts with a short intro describing the setting.
