UPDATED: See below for an exclusive clip from the film!When I first saw that title I thought it was another release of the Sean Penn film Carlito's Way. I was wrong. This is a film that chronicles Carlito's rise to power in Spanish Harlem. It will be making it's DVD appearance on September 27th.
The trailer looks pretty good, not necessarily destined for classic status, but definitely worth looking into. It has an interesting collection of stars including Jay Hernandez, Mario Van Peebles, Sean "Diddy" Combs, and Luis Guzman. Quite the array, if you ask me.
The trailer gives us a glimpse of Carlito and his partners in crime conspiring on their rise to the top. Not all that is seen is rosy. Some of the acting looks sub par, particularly the awful line delivery by Sean Combs. On the other side, Luis Guzman is always solid. The trailer also gives us an idea of what the film is going to look like, recreating New York City of the past.The movie will be making it's debut in a select theaters prior to it's DVD appearance.
