New Releases

This week has a pair of big releases, one of them trying to get a jump on the weekend opened this past Wednesday. Quite the opposite of last week which saw the release of zero wide releases.

Blade: Trinity. The third entry in the Blade series opened this past Wednesday to mixed reviews. I have not read too much about the film as I want to go in not knowing too much. A couple of my friends have already seen it and have liked it, so I am looking forward to it. The first two films were very good films, with the first one more or less kicking off the recent trend of translating comics to the big screen. Plus this has Van Wilder and Triple H, how can you go wrong?

Ocean's Twelve. Steven Soderbergh brings back George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, Bernie Mac, Carl Reiner, Don Cheadle, Scott Caan, Casey Affleck, Andy Garcia, and indeed, the entire crew from the original, plus Catherine Zeta-Jones for this sequel. It looks like fun too, the first film and the trailers for this one just exude a cool aura. Looking forward to this one as well.

Guerilla: The Taking of Patty Hearst. This one looks interesting. The director has compiled footage and newspaper stories from the mid-70's invasion of the Symbionese Liberation Army and their kidnapping of the college student heiress and her rebirth as Tania, a new member of the SLA.
