Superman has left this World.

I first read this this morning, but only now do I have the chance to write a brief post about it. Christopher Reeve has passed on at the age of 52. I will always remember him as Superman, bringing the hero of truth and justice to the big screen so perfectly. In 1995 he became paralyzed following an accident during a horse riding competition and went on to be a spokesmen for medical research. This past Saturday he fell into a coma brought on by an infection and died of heart failure on Sunday.

He left an indelible mark on cinema, bringing one of the greatest heroes to life. I am not sure what else I can say. I was happy when he returned to acting in the Rear Window remake, even happier upon his appearance on Smallville. He will always be remembered.

Lest we not forget others who have passed on this week.

Janet Leigh who will always be remembered for a fateful shower in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, which disturbed her for life. Not to mention other memorable roles in Orsen Welles' Touch of Evil and also The Manchurian Candidate.

Rodney Dangerfield, the comedian who got now respect. He will always be remembered for stealing his scenes in Caddyshack.

And lastly, baseball star Ken Caminiti, who while a talented ballplayer succumbed to drug use and ended up having his career cut short.
