New Releases for 10/29/04

This Halloween weekend sees the release of only 1 new horror film. Should have been at least 2, but I'll take what I can get.

Saw. A few months ago a trailer hit the web for this movie, and I immediately started anticipating it's release. It looks so bizarre, and hopefully bloody, plus it stars Danny Glover and Cary Elwes. Go figure, never thought I'd see those two pairing for a horror film. It promises to be a gory affair and hopefully give us an original piece of horror cinema, I'm fearing some type of Se7en clone.

Ray. Here is one I am highly anticipating. Jamie Foxx playing Ray Charles, I never would have thought of casting him, but after seeing Collateral, I eagerly look forward to more of his work, he is fast rising to the A list. Early word has a lot of Oscar buzz around Foxx, I hope it pays off. The movie does look very good and the resemblance and movements are uncanny.

Birth. Nicole Kidman's latest entry looks to be kind of strange. Apparently, her husband has died and been reborn into a young boy, meanwhile she is preparing to remarry while this boy tried to interject himself into her life. There was a lot of controversy surrounding this movie as it features a nude scene with Kidman and the boy, I am not sure if this scene remains intact or if there were any edits to it. It looks like it may be interesting.

The Yes Men. This one is about a couple of pranksters who take their joke world wide, parodying the World Trade Organization. They get so far as to appear on television and have their outlandish proposals accepted. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be funny or sad, or maybe both.
