Another small turnout, I thought for sure this would be a popular one to respond to, guess I was wrong. Do you just not like answering polls? I don't seem to get it, if anyone could shed some light on this, please do. Anyway, let's take a little look at each of these guys.
Freddy Krueger. This guy got my vote, of all the slashers, this one seemed to have the biggest attempt at telling an interesting tale. They built up a pretty good universe around the character with the most inventive visuals.
Jason Voorhees. The drowned boy, turned mass murderer, turned zombie murdered. Jason has had an interesting, umm, life cycle. Always on the cutting edge of new kills. I always ranked him a bit lower than Freddy, his overall story wasn't as interesting, despite him developing into an interesting mute character.
Michael Myers. The original film is a horror classic. The sequel was unique in that it took place the same night as the first. Myers was a decent character that would develop in a similar way to Jason, but got even more ridiculous the longer it went on, which hurt him in the long run.
Pinhead. The second best talker of the bunch, behind Freddy. Pinhead always had an air of regality to him, not to mention pure evil. He would turn into a shadow of his former self in the later films, when the stories become more morality plays with Pinhead spouting the lesson to be learned. Early in the series, he was evil incarnate.
Chucky. Evil dolls have always had a special place in my heart, I don't think there is a kid who hasn't imagined one of his toys springing to murderous life in the dark while they try to sleep. The first film was pretty scary, but then he becomes more of a joke, only to be revived and take a wife recently.
Leatherface. The first film is classic, it gave us a real gritty horror, but the sequels have all failed by comparison. The recent reimagining of the original proved to be a rather grueling horror experience.
If anyone has any other thoughts on these, or other, horror icons, please drop a line!
