The Terminator was a franchise that once held a world of promise, and before that it was a bad ass science fiction/action film that took cues from the horror realm to make an involving and terrifying film that thrilled you at the same time it scared the wits out of you. Seriously, that first film was a legitimate horror movie. The sequel arrived seven years later and delivered a hugely satisfying action film that expanded the universe while remaining true to the toy box opened in the first. Now, thirty-one years after that first film, the Terminator is back and ready to thrill audiences once again. Sadly, it is not to be.

Trailer Alert: Terminator - Genisys
Terminator has had quite a history. There was the classic original film from 1984 that introduced us to this frightening world, not unlike a slasher tale. Then there is the the 1991 sequel that took everything to the next level. Since then it has been something of a mixed bag. Terminator 3 was entertaining, but does not stand up to the first two. There was a television series which was getting pretty good when it was canceled. Finally there was the fourth film which had some interesting stuff but was really not so good. Now, they are trying to reboot the series with Terminator: Genisys.

Critical Capsule: Sabotage (2014)
Arnold Schwarzenegger returned to movies with a bit part in 2012's The Expendables. Since then he has appeared in that film's sequel as well as starring in The Last Stand and co-starring, with Sylvester Stallone, in Escape Plan. He is back once more in the driver's seat of a new action thriller, and it is probably the best starring role he has had since he left the Governor's mansion. This is not to say it is a great movie, but it is certainly entertaining and almost gleefully violent. It is called Sabotage.

Movie Review: Jingle All the Way (1996)
It is that wonderful time of year, Christmas is nearly upon us. You know, the rushing around, the gift buying for people you see once a year, the snubs, the fights, the difficulty in finding the right thing. It is enough to make someone..... well, want to curl into the fetal position until spring. Anyway, I always feel the need to squeeze in a couple of holiday themed films. There are the annual ones like A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, and Elf, but I also try to take in a few others and it isn't close enough to the big day for Black Christmas (original, of course). So, I have decided to revisit Jingle All the Way.

Movie Review: Escape Plan
Thirty years in the making, Stallone and Schwarzenegger are finally together on the big screen and in a full movie. Yes, they had some scenes together in the Expendables movies, but those are big ensembles and don't really count. I have read it took so long because of rejected scripts and scheduling difficulties. I am go along with the second, but it makes me wonder just how ad those scripts were that this was the one that made the cut..
