Blu-ray Review: Jurassic World

Movie Review: Jurassic World
With the release of Jurassic World upon us, allow me to say that I had a hard time getting into the hype. Don't get me wrong, Jurassic Park is a classic, a great film that amazed the eyes upon its release back in 1993. Its use of animatronic and computer effects was second to none and still holds up today as an illustration of CGI used properly. With that said, it is not a franchise that has sparked the nostalgia factor like, say, Mad Max (not that I am comparing the two), so, I could not get wrapped up in this new one. Besides, I did not think the trailers looked all that great, and the effects far from wowed me.

Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy
It seemed like it was just yesterday that Marvel was launching their movie studio with the first Iron Man movie. Who could have predicted how high they would fly? Certainly not I. On top of that, I never would have guessed that they would have taken their cinematic universe to the cosmic level that they have. Well, we got a taste of it with the Chitauri in The Avengers. Now we have Marvel going full throttle into deep space with Guardians of the Galaxy. This movie may not be the best of the bunch, but it has a lot going for it and it is one of the most fun movies I have seen this year. Seriously, it is a lot of fun.

Movie Review: The Lego Movie
When I first heard they were going to make a movie based on Lego Blocks, I could not imagine it being a good movie. Wait, let me take that a step further, I actually did not think it was a real thing. If anything, I figured it was going to be some sort of straight to video thing for kids. I was wrong. Trailers arrived, commercials arrived, and I was surprised to see that it actually looked kind of funny. Was it possible for this to actually be a good movie? The positive buzz that formed around seemed to indicate so. All right, I guess you could consider me officially interested.

Movie Review: Her
Spike Jonze is an interesting film maker. He may not be the most prolific of creators, but when he does grace the screen with something, it is generally going to be worth seeing. He takes different angles into the material, so even if the tale is familiar or at least has familiar elements it is still going to be something you will want to spend time with. I am not saying you are going to like the movie, necessarily, but you will certainly have a reaction to it. Her is one of those movies. It is not the most original of ideas, but it is terribly engrossing. I can say it held my attention.
