Movie Review: Blair Witch

Way back in 1999 a movie was released that took the word by storm. It was called The Blair Witch Project and it came out in the days before the internet was everywhere as it is today. What does that mean? It means the film was in perfect position to be marketed in such a way that people did not know if it was real or not, something that most likely would not be able to done today. I guess it was the last hurrah of the “is it or isn’t it” type of word of mouth marketing. Long gone are the days of Faces of Death and the perceived reality of said film’s contents. Why is any of this important? A sequel was made under cover of darkness, which has now been unleashed upon the masses.

Movie Review: The Guest (2014)

Sometimes the best movies are the ones you find when you aren't expecting them. The Guest is an example of that. Sure, I had seen posts and such buzzing about how good it was and how everyone needs to see it, but I really wasn't buying it. Granted, I never really looked into it. I remember seeing the poster and the title and just thinking absolutely nothing of it. The poster was boring, the title seemed generic and I felt no reason to look into it any further. I guess I made a tactical mistake. The Guest is pretty fantastic. Seriously.

Movie Review: You're Next

You're Next is one of those horror movies that has been left collecting dust on a shelf somewhere for years. So many films suffer this fate that sometimes I wonder what great gem may be hidden away, never to be seen by an audience hungry for what it's frames contain. After two years of sitting around, it has finally been given a clean bill of health and allowed to play in cineplexes around the country. It leaves behind such titles as The Poughkeepsie Tapes and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (although it appears that Mandy may yet see the light of day).
