Nazi zombies. You have to admit, it is a heck of a combination. They must be the sort of thing that gives Indiana Jones nightmares, well, that and snakes. While there are not a whole lot of movies in the sub genre, there are enough people who thought it was a good idea for it become a thing. This is probably a good thing. Sure, there are some neat ideas and things you can do with a Nazi zombie, but it is still a limiting exercise, albeit one that has had renewed life in recent years with the Outpost and Dead Snow films. Still, when it comes right down to it, one of the best is also one of the first, Shock Waves.

Movie Review: The Psychic (1977)
Over the few years I have been getting into the deeper cuts of horror, Lucio Fulci has stepped up and fast become one of my favorite directors. With that said, I have not seen nearly enough of his films and that is something that really needs to be rectified. The good thing is that this Halloween season has been kind to me and I have been able to scratch a couple more titles of the list. One of the newly seen is the lackluster, but not terrible, Aenigma. The other is the movie at hand, The Psychic, also known as Sette note in nero. I saw it projected at a drive in (DVD, sadly not 35mm, but was still fun) and really enjoyed it.

Movie Review: Hitch-Hike (1977)
The world of cult, exploitation, and horror cinema holds a wealth of treasures. These movies have no limits, know no bounds, well, except for budgetary ones, but so what? It is fascinating to watch what a writer and director do to try and make interesting, involving, and boundary pushing films. Now, I am not sure that this particular film exactly qualifies as boundary pushing, but it is one that reminded me that you never know where you are going to uncover a gem. It is a movie that peels the rug back on ugliness, it shows its grimy underbelly to the world, and it could care less if you approve.

Horror-A-day: The Spell
I guess it was bound to happen, between trying to figure out what is going on with the Fall weather and watching never before seen horror and exploitation movies on Netflix it had to happen sooner or later. What? Well, a movie that left me with little to say about yet leave me obligated to try and say something. I is one of those moves that, while mildly interesting leaves the mind almost as quickly as it enters. So, please forgive me if this entry in Horror-A-Day is exceptionally short.

Netflix'ns: Eaten Alive
In 1974 a landmark film in horror history was released, that movie was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, directed by Tobe Hooper and written by Kim Henkel. It is a movie that has stood the test of time and stands up as one of the scariest films ever made. It is one of those movies where everything works. The problem is how do you follow something like that up? Since filmmaking is a business and you are constantly being judged on your past work, it can be hard to love up to it. In any case, Hooper and Henkel reteamed for the 1977 film Eaten Alive, one of the legendary Video Nasties.
